A human response to a nine-year old building that required repositioning was a challenge. Considered slightly harsh and a little unloved by its occupants and potential tenants, the challenge for Gray Puksand was to humanise and reposition 180 Lonsdale building for it co-owners.
The existing flamboyant architectural detailing demanded respect and retention. Subtle overlay of warm material and inserted objects create a depth of experience that is tactile and enveloping at the same time.
Gray Puksand collaborated with renowned sculptor Peter Hennessey who created a piece “Hanabi”, which translates to flowers of fire and has become a celebrated focus.
An improved amenity through a new café, a distinguished end-of-trip facility, direct access to QV retail, as well as improvements to 10 typical floors have repositioned this building to the delight of its owners and occupants.
