Launching our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan

With our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) now endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, Gray Puksand has reached an important milestone in its reconciliation journey.

Strengthening our cultural understanding and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples starts with clarity and intention. With our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) now endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, Gray Puksand has reached an important milestone in its reconciliation journey. The Reflect RAP provides the foundation for how we will deepen respect, build meaningful connections and create new opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, supporting a more culturally informed practice and future.

“As designers shaping places for people across Australia, we recognise the responsibility to listen, learn and embed the values, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within our work,” said Nik Tabain, National Managing Partner.

The Reflect RAP outlines the actions that will guide this commitment, from enhancing cultural capability across our studios to expanding meaningful partnerships with Elders, cultural educators, artists and community-led organisations. It reinforces that reconciliation is an ongoing process grounded in respect, shared learning and integrity.

“Our Reflect RAP is a commitment to living our values of People First and Collective Intelligence, resulting in meaningful engagement, collaboration, respect and ultimately, design.”

“It asks us to listen deeply, reflect on how we design and forge relationships that guide meaningful change. Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we are proud to walk this path with our partners, advisors and communities,” concluded Nik.

Our RAP artwork, Galyna Woka (Beautiful Land), by Kinya Lerrk, reflects Gray Puksand’s steps towards reconciliation. It depicts Elders, shared creation stories, the role of design across our studios and the collective intelligence that shapes our practice. The piece is a visual narrative that mirrors our commitment to designing with Country and acknowledging the knowledge holders who guide us.

As we continue this journey, the Reflect RAP will help ensure cultural understanding is embedded in how we collaborate, how we design and how we engage with the communities connected to each project.
