Gray Puksand designs a new standard in Senior Living.

Greenway Views Seniors’ Living Village in Canberra is a joint venture between Cromwell Property and LDK Healthcare. The design sets the standard for a new model of senior community living which offers an experience that connects PLACE, COMMUNITY and CARE and gives residents a sense of freedom.

The project breathes new life into five buildings of two wings each, previously occupied by the Federal Government Department of Social Services. It will accommodate up to 500 occupants across 380 apartments ranging in size from 50sqm studio apartments up to 120sqm three-bedroom apartments.

The central philosophy aims to provide a better quality of life for seniors in an environment that provides a sense of wellbeing and homeliness with an approach that responds to the core values of love, decency and kindness.

Gray Puksand’s design uses colour philosophy with purposefully selected tones aimed at minimising dementia agitation, improve quality of life, facilitate spatial recognition and help residents to navigate the buildings.

The selection of interior furnishings, lighting and décor also helps the space to feel distinctively different. This resulted in a bespoke aesthetic consisting of brass detailing, marble, polished concrete, timber and a combination of blended luxurious plank carpet tiles.

Greenway Views caters for seniors across the complete spectrum of care needs, based on the principles of ageing in place.

“The project is designed for residents that require no care, partial care and full care and where the overarching idea is to build a home that you would want to live in or have your parents live in. Our design aims to balance the residents’ needs and aspirations with their functional needs.
